Open House: Meet The Encore Players
Wednesday, November 18 | 12 PM
The Vincentian Theater, 8150 McKnight Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15237
Free. All seniors welcome. No experience needed.
Have you ever sat in the audience and wondered what it would feel like to be the one on stage? Come find out.
The Encore Players is Pittsburgh’s first professional-quality performing arts company built exclusively for adults 55 and older. Founded in 2026 by Rich Cefalo, Dick Roberts, and Dr. Ken Gargaro, we’re a place to take the stage, try something new, or return to a passion life put on hold. We believe older adults aren’t the audience for someone else’s story. They’re the storytellers.
Join us for a relaxed, midday information session moderated by Dr. Ken Gargaro, our Artistic and Music Director and founder of Pittsburgh Musical Theater, whose career in Pittsburgh’s performing arts spans more than 50 years. You’ll tour our home stage, meet our team and fellow performers, and learn how to get involved:
Senior Theater Camp: daytime programs adapting beloved Broadway musicals and plays, with scripts and staging tailored to adult performers. Our 2027 season features Guys and Dolls, Neil Simon’s Rumors, and All Shook Up. No auditions, three performances per camp, plus a cast party and keepsake t-shirt.
Encore Singers: Our joyful chorus, directed by Dr. Gargaro, performs a Pops concert and a signature Holiday show each year. No audition, no music reading required. If you can match pitch and love to sing, there’s a spot for you.
All programs rehearse during daylight hours, so there’s no evening driving. Whether you’ve performed for decades or haven’t sung since grade school, you’ll find a supportive, judgment-free community built for joy, not perfection.
The stage is for you. It always has been.
